Fresh Dental specializes in crowns. An effective way to strengthen and improve the appearance of teeth, crowns are an ideal solution for cosmetic improvement and bite problems. Also referred to as ‘caps’, they fit directly over the remaining tooth.

Crowns are produced in a range of materials, including the following:

• Porcelain bonded to precious metal

• Precious metal (gold and palladium)

To fit crowns, two surgery visits are typically required. The first includes the preparation, impression, shade taking and fitting of the temporary crown (if required). The second visit is to fit the permanent crown.

Properly cared for, crowns can last for many years-on average 5-10 years. Excellent oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentists and hygienist is of utmost importance if you wish to keep the crowns and teeth in a healthy condition and last as long as possible. It is important to remember to keep the area where the crown joins the tooth clean for this reason. If excellent oral hygiene is NOT maintained the crowns WILL fail.
